When Does ‘All American’ Episode 2 Premiere on The CW?

All American‘s Simone Hicks (Geffri Maya) is getting her very own show. All American: Homecoming, an All American spinoff featuring Maya’s character, will go ahead at The CW, Deadline reports. The All American: Homecoming pilot will premiere as an episode in the third season of the show, which is currently airing on The CW.

The spinoff series is described as “a young-adult sports drama” which will take place “against the backdrop of the HBCU experience.” All American: Homecoming follows two leads: a Beverly Hills tennis star and an elite Chicago basketball player. Both are grappling with the demands of college sports, plus “the highs, lows and sexiness of unsupervised early adulthood at a prestigious Historically Black College.”

All American showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll will write and executive produce the new series, which also comes from executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden and Robbie Rogers. All American and Black Lightning director Michael Schultz will direct the pilot episode.

All American: Homecoming comes after The CW announced two other planted pilots in development, including the Black Lightning spinoff Painkiller and the Nancy Drew spinoff Tom Swift. Painkiller is set to star Jordan Calloway and will premiere on The CW later this month. Tom Swift, which is based on the book series, will feature a Black, gay lead and is expected to appear in Nancy Drew Season 2.

Maya, who is known for her role in ABC’s Private Practice, has starred in All American since 2019, when she was introduced in Season 2. She’s also appeared in Everybody Hates Chris, The Pre-Quarter Life Crisis, WTF Baron Davis and Black-ish. Maya confirmed the news of the All American spinoff on Instagram this afternoon, writing, “Woke up. Edges GONE. It’s official: God is all up in this. As a proud Alum of [Clark Atlanta University] words cannot express my gratitude for being awarded the opportunity to tell this story. Thank you @kech99 for your belief in me & to my @cwallamerican family for opening new doors & welcoming me with open arms.”

All American Season 3 is now airing on The CW. Catch new episodes every Monday at 8/7c, or check out our guide on where and how to watch All American.
