When New Jersey attorney Kristin Hopkins joined Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” she didn’t anticipate falling for star Matt James so fast.

“I wasn’t expecting to like him so quickly,” Hopkins said in a recent interview with The Daily Voice.

“I was very surprised at myself and my emotions. Since you don’t have your phone or any other outside things, you have a chance to talk to this person more. I think the product of not having other outside distractions you naturally start to learn more about the person and are a little more invested in the person,” she continued.

Hopkins, 27, a Virginia Beach, Virginia, native, was eliminated from the show in Week 3. Although her time on “The Bachelor” has ended, Hopkins is grateful for the experience.

“The ultimate goal when I went in was to end with Matt, but I also knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I made sure I enjoyed my entire time. You just don’t know what could happen and I wasn’t expecting to go home so early. I made sure while I was there that I enjoyed the time that I had,” she said.

While Rachael Kirkconnell and Michelle Young are among the frontrunners from James’ heart, looking back, Hopkins has no regrets about how the journey unfolded.

“I went in as myself and I was myself the entire way through. I did my best and I was me. I think that’s the best thing I could have done,” she said.

“The Bachelor” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
