A New Mexico State Police officer was killed and other officers were injured during a shooting Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The mayhem happened on Interstate 10 in Luna County, according to a statement by the New Mexico State Police.
The agency said a state trooper and the suspect were killed, and the scene remains active.
The Las Cruces Police Department reported there were shots fired along Interstate 10 near Las Cruces, the Las Cruces Sun News reported.
The outlet reported a Las Cruces police officer was wounded and taken to a local hospital.
Video on social media appeared to show the pursuit. Multiple gunshots and police sirens can be heard as officers swarm a white pickup truck on I-10. A person can also be seen laying on the ground, video shows.
I-10 was closed to the public as multiple law enforcement agencies continue to investigate, police said.
