Much like the rest of us, Stephen Colbert is fed up with QAnon-supporting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. During his Thursday night monologue, The Late Show host skewered Greene, who was ejected from her House committees for espousing conspiracy theories and supporting calls for violence against Democratic leaders. Greene attempted to walk back her remarks before she was stripped of her committee assignments, but Colbert didn’t buy her apology. “This is the modern GOP!” ripped the host. “They want credit for recognizing reality.”

Colbert has been discussing the growing rift in the Republican Party for weeks, but on Thursday night, he kicked his criticism up a notch with a scathing monologue targeted at Greene. After running through a few of the conspiracies that Greene has publicly supported, Colbert noted that she has also “endorsed the idea of executing Democratic leaders,” including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. “Kind of a bad look when you’re okay with your new coworkers getting murdered!” said the host.

“Before the House vote, Greene defended herself, and she came very close to denouncing QAnon,” he added, before playing a clip of the congresswoman’s speech on the house floor. “You’re right, it’s dangerous to mix a truth, like you saying, ‘I used to believe in QAnon,’ and you lying like, ‘Now I don’t anymore.’”

Colbert then moved on to Greene’s attempt to “clear the air on some of her past statements,” including her false belief that 9/11 was a hoax. “I also want to tell you 9/11 absolutely happened,” the congresswoman told her colleagues Thursday afternoon.

“You know what? This may come as a surprise to you, but those of us who watched those buildings burn with our bare eyes here in the New York City area are not that impressed with your willingness to admit that it happened,” ripped The Late Show host. “I believe we as a nation promised to always remember it happened. What’s your bumper sticker say? ‘9/11. Oops, I Forgot!’”

“So, all in all, not what you’d call a full-throated apology,” he concluded. “But in the end, not only did her colleagues refuse to punish her — they actually gave Green a standing ovation! That ought to teach her a lesson.”
