How Much Time Actually Passes in the ‘Palm Springs’ Time Loop?
Groundhog Day falls on February 2. And like most things since the start of the pandemic, it’s just not going to be the same. Yes, our esteemed groundhog Phil will still be called upon to come out of his burrow at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, PA to predict the remainder of winter by checking for his shadow. But alas, he’ll be all by his lonesome—because Groundhog Day 2021 will officially be virtual, streaming live on the Pennsylvania tourism website without any live activities.
Of course, whether our furry pal sees his shadow or not (and considering there is currently a winter snowstorm bearing down on the northeast, we’re willing to place a bet on a negative outcome) what may be a more fulfilling celebration is figuring out how to watch the classic, existential time loop comedy Groundhog Day online.
Let’s face it, Covid has made many of us feel like we are reliving the same day over and over (and over).
A simple lesson, yet with the state of the world these days, we might all benefit from an infinite number of days to figure out how to heal thyselves (preferably without access to social media).
So, where can you watch Groundhog Day online free this year? Here’s everything you need to know.
WHERE TO WATCH GROUNDHOG DAY 2021

IS GROUNDHOG DAY ON NETFLIX?
Though it was on Netflix over the summer, Groundhog Day is no longer on the streaming giant’s site.
But he’s joined by a talented cast including Andie Macdowell (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Sex, Lies and Videotape) and Chris Elliott (There’s Something About Mary, Cabin Boy), among other stars.
